Time Keeps on Slipping…
Life Goes On
Have a cute dog pic as an apology
No, I didn’t spend my year curled up on a blanket, although that does look pretty comfy.

Free Time Well Spent

Computer Gaming
Time does blend together, so I couldn’t say for sure that all of these were 2024, but I added several things to my Steam library. I used to be a total completionist, but lately I have a lot of unfinished games and games I haven’t even started, yikes.
- Converted SWTOR to Steam (and played a little bit but F2P isn’t my jam)
- World of Warcraft (when did I resub?) I’ve played some of the Dragonflight expansion and I’m currently playing War Within, raiding again)
- Baldur’s Gate 3 (yet to be finished)
- Solasta (makes the TTRPG player in me happy)
- Minecraft (yeah, surprised me too)
- Nightingale (slow drip story and grind wasn’t for me)
- Star Wars Outlaws (still need to finish)
- Dragon Age Veilguard (2025? enjoyed the story but not the dodge heavy combat)
- Return to Moria
- No Man’s Sky expeditions
- New World (had a good guild but their reboot made me loose interest)
- Palia (cozy gaming was kind of relaxing but ultimately not long term)

Reading
I read a lot of science fiction and urban fantasy books. Some of my favorites were Scalzi’s Starter Villain and Hines’ Janitors of the Apocalypse series. I finally read Sanderson’s Mistborn series and enjoyed it. Wexler’s Ashes of the Sun trilogy, And a bunch of new stuff/authors on Kindle Unlimited that was okay but not stand out.

Tabletop
Our family and friend DnD games are still going strong. We started a game for family during COVID and everyone has stuck with it regularly since. I’ve GMd Storm Kings Thunder, Witchlight and a few random homegrown scenarios based loosely on One Punch Man (monsters and heroes). We’ve had one in person and two remote DnD groups going for the past few years. Our in person group has been playing regularly for longer than some of you have been alive. Seriously, it has been at least 20 years.
Missing Motivation
I didn’t participate in Blaugust last year, which has always been a great motivator to write. It has also been a while since a game has grabbed my enthusiasm enough to screen shot and write about it. Lately I’ve fallen back into “comfort” gaming with WoW where it is pretty much the same old thing, but I can just roll with it. Some of the old Killer Bunnies gang is back and raiding weekly, which has been a nice blast from the past. I wonder if my days of sharing tips and game hype are over. Is it me or is it the games themselves?
The realization that I can’t remember when I picked up Cyberpunk is just a sign of how the past few years of being at home a lot have blurred together. Something odd happened when COVID changed how we socialize and it has never quite gone back to normal. I keep the lights on here, but a full year of inactivity has made me wonder if it still makes sense.
